January Budget Review

I have always watched A Thrifty Mom share her weekly budget review and have never kept track of mine. I kept track of January and the amount I would have spent before sales and coupons was:
$872.19. I spent $408.71 this month including adding to the stockpile and getting 12 cans of macaroni for our food storage. How did you do? I used to get frustrated seeing that A Thrify Mom could even cut that in half and spend about $200 a month, but then I realized that she lives in Idaho where sales are about $.50-$1.00 better in her stores and they get Albertson's doublers making a lot of her items for free and we do not get those coupons.

Stater Bros Deals

I always have bad luck at Staters, but I decided to try again. Check the front of your ad for these great deals. When you buy 4 participating General Mills products you get $4 off. I chose to get the 99 cent items. You MUST use the coupon in the ad to get your $4 off and it must be the exact items mentioned. The lady in front of me had the wrong crescent rolls and it would not work. The coupon states one per family. I do not know how firm the store is so on my way out I grabbed another ad and grabbed a few more items and went to a second cashier.

First Transaction: 4 crescent rolls: $7.96
Use $4.00 of in ad
use (2) $1/2 Crescent roll coupons found here
Total $1.96
Second Transaction: 2 Yoplus Yogurt $3.98
2 Fruit by the foot $3.98
2 Lunchables (not in promo, but 99 cents each this week) $1.98
Total: $9.94
Use $4.00 in ad coupon
Use (2) $1/1 Yo Plus (from Sundays paper or here)
Use (2) Lunchable printable $.55/1 (if you printed these when hip2save listed them, they expire today)
Total: $2.34

If you have 4 yoplus coupons you can score FREE yogurt! They ring up at $.99 after the in ad coupon so you will need another item to cushion the penny difference on each item (because the coupons are $1 off). I don't know how Staters cash registers work and don't know that they will adjust the coupon down if you just get the 4 yogurts.

Several other GM items listed in the deal ranging from $.99 to I think $1.99. There are several coupons match ups out there whether from the paper or printables for many of these items.

If any local gals need more than the 2 crescent roll coupons that you can print I have several ranging from $.25/1 to $.50/2. Just email me if you need any.

Walgreens 1/11-1/16

Southern Savers listed Walgreens as a slow week, but I was able to find some great savings.

I am not good about knowing where the coupons came from, but www.southernsavers.com lists all of them under their Walgreens tab. I did 5 transactions.

I started out with $5.50 in Register Rewards from last weeks earnings.

All Laundry Detergent Sale $4.00 used $1 q
4 Triaminic Thin Strips Sale 2/$10 (4) $3 off q's ($5 RR back with each transaction of 2)
2 Oral B Crossaction Toothbrushes $6 (2) $2.00 off q's from Shawna B's Dentist (There are also $.75 off ones from the paper) $2 RR back
2 Betty Crocker Frosting $.99 (in ad coupon) use $1/2 q
4 Halls $.99 (in ad q) use (4) $.50 q
2 Nivea Lip Treatment 2/$8 use 2 $3 off q's ($3 RR back)
5 Energizer Battery packs $2.99 use (5) $1 off q's
3 Kleenex (not pictured) $.79 each with in ad coupon use $.50/3 q
Filler items Valentine bags for $.29
Valentine Chocolate Marshmallows $.39 in ad coupon

I had actually planned on paying for the batteries out of pocket, but the Clinton Keith Walgreens is having their grand opening this week so there is a $3 off $10!!!! coupon on the front of their ad. Because they are in the ads you can use as many as you want so I broke it down into 5 transactions of $10 each. This saved $15 that I had not planned!! This way I was able to save some RR's for my batteries

Totals before sales and coupons: $72.54
Total out of pocket: $6.17
Register Rewards earned: $15.00
Profit: $8.83!!

2 Childrens Motrin
4 Reach Floss

3 packages Kraft Singles (not pictured)
Numerous $.12 pencils (filler items)

After many transactions and 2 patient cashiers my totals today were:

Before coupons: $160.56
Out of Pocket after sales and coupons: $29.11
Total Register rewards earned: $34.00
Profit made: $4.89

All these deals are listed on Hip2Save and Southern Savers
Any local gals who have questions please call or email me.
I shopped at 2 different Walgreens for Electrasol and did not clear the shelves. However, I did promise to tell you how many were left at Newport, but I forgot to check because I had called ahead and they were holding 4 for me. With this being such a hot item this week I would Strongly suggest calling first to see if they have any left. They are FREE after coupon from yesterdays LA Times and RR at Walgreens. If they are all out, they are $3.49 at Target this week and with the $2.50 from paper yesterday you would pay $.99.
